Gay lawyer to run for Jason Carter’s Ga. Senate seat

 

Decatur lawyer Kyle Williams is running for the state Senate seat currently held by Jason Carter.

Carter announced weeks ago he is running for governor against Republican Nathan Deal.

Williams, who is openly gay, ran unsuccessfully for the Decatur City Commission Post 2 seat in 2009.

State Senate District 42 includes portions of DeKalb County including Decatur, Avondale Estates and Atlanta.

Williams, a Democrat, is a former board chair of Georgia Equality Foundation. He is currently sending out invites to people to “like” his Facebook page announcing his run as a Democrat for the state Senate seat. 

Williams’ partner is Larry Kosten.

Kyle is a founding partner of and an attorney with the law firm of Williams Teusink, LLC. He focuses his practice on land use and zoning, lender liability and loan workouts, landlord-tenant, commercial and residential real estate transactions and litigation, brokerage commission disputes, construction disputes, covenant enforcement and association disputes, and ad valorem property tax appeals.
