Big Freedia, the Queen Diva of New Orleans' bounce rapping scene, visited Atlanta on Jan. 21, 2013, for a thumping good time at the Earl in East Atlanta. Before she took the stage for her set, she led a dance class to early arrivers, showing them the finer points of wobbling, gyrating and popping their asses. Big Freedia is also know for her role on bringing Sissy Bounce to mainstream audiences. As a person who appears masculine but identifies with a female pronoun, Big Freedia is also a foremother of the Sissy Bounce scene that appeals to queers and gender nonconforming audiences. Special guest included Choppa, another New Orleans rapper. (Photos by Dyana Bagby)
