The one-year anniversary of the repeal of the military's anti-gay "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" policy was celebrated in style at the Atlanta home of Jeff Cleghorn. Cleghorn, an attorney with the firm Kitchens New Cleghorn LLC, is a member of the board of directors of the national Servicemembers Legal Defense Network. He explained at the party that SLDN was joining forces with OutServe, also a national organization made up of chapters across the U.S., including Georgia, of openly gay people currently serving in the military. While the repeal of DADT means lesbian and gay service members can now serve openly, transgender people still cannot serve and are discharged from the military if their identity is discovered, Cleghorn explained. That is an issue SLDN and OutServe want to change as well as working to get federal benefits to the spouses and partners of gay military personnel. (Photos by Dyana Bagby)
