Atlanta Eagle attorney Dan Grossman will be speaking at the Queer Justice League’s meeting on Tuesday, July 5. The meeting begins at 8 p.m. and is being held at the Phillip Rush Center, 1530 DeKalb Ave., Atlanta, GA 30307. Grossman will discuss the recent investigations of the Atlanta Police Department and its action in the Sept. 10, 2009, raid on the Eagle, a Midtown gay bar. He will also discuss the implementation of policies the APD is mandated to undertake as part of a $1.025 million settlement with Eagle plaintiffs. The plaintiffs sued the city saying their constitutional rights were violated. A federal judge agreed their rights were violated, the Atlanta Citizens Review Board also investigated the raid and found the APD violated the patrons’ Fourth Amendment, and the recent Greenberg Traurig law firm’s investigation, paid for by the city, also found the same. Also to be discussed at the meeting will be plans the QJL has for Atlanta Pride, a possible marriage equality rally in August. Click here for more information on the QJL meeting. This meeting will take place at Saint Mark United Methodist Church at 7 p.m. Saint Mark UMC is located at 781 Peachtree St. NE, Atlanta, GA 30308.
