Either there are a lot of cool, bawdy moms visiting Atlanta, or the readers of GayCities.com have an odd sense of humor. GayCities, which bills itself as "the world's largest LGBT community-driven city guide," announced today the winners of its 2010 Best of GayCities awards, as voted by members. The Atlanta gay male strip club Swinging Richards placed #3 in the section of Best Bars & Clubs for the category of "Take Your Mom." And if your mom likes hot guys dancing mostly for other guys, sure thing. The Abbey in Los Angeles ranked #1 for the bar to "take your mom." Several other Atlanta businesses and events, or those with a major presence in Atlanta, also placed in the GayCities awards. Here are the other local winners by category and sub-category: Best Shops: Meet a Book Lover: #5 Outwrite Bookstore & Coffeehouse in Atlanta tied with Liberia Nuestras Letras in San Jose, CR Best Events: Charity Social of the Year: #2: Dining Out for Life (which takes place in multiple cities, including Atlanta) Restaurants: Avoid Meat: #5: Cafe Sunflower in Atlanta Hotel Brands We Love: #1: W Hotels (nationwide, with the Atlanta's W Midtown extremely popular for LGBT events) Atlanta Pride did not make GayCities' readers' top 5 for Best Pride City, which went to San Francisco, followed by New York, Toronto, Rio de Janeiro and Madrid.
