Atlanta City Council members H. Lamar Willis and Alex Wan are hosting a Gay Pride Reception on Oct. 6 to help ring in Atlanta Pride’s 40th anniversary. Willis, who has held receptions for the LGBT community for several years at the onset of Atlanta Pride, is joining forces with Wan this year. Wan is the first openly gay man elected to the council as well as the first Asian elected to a seat on the council. The reception will be held at Halo Lounge on Wednesday, Oct. 6, from 6-9 p.m., and will include live entertainment as well as a costume contest. A special prize will be awarded to the winner of the costume contest at 7:30 p.m. RSVP to Willis at [email protected] or call 404-330-6041.
