Ga.'s LGBT Health Initiative raises $1,000 over Komen funding flap
by Dyana Bagby
February 03, 2012 13:30

The Health Initiative, which focuses on LGBT wellness, says it raised nearly $1,000 in 24 hours as a response to Susan G. Komen for the Cure's defunding of Planned Parenthood.

Posted Thursday to the Health Initiative's Facebook page:

"Thank you, to all of you have donated to the Health Initiative's Health Fund in the last 24 hours. With the nearly $1000 you've raised, we will provide up to 20 breast exams/mammograms or 7 annual physicals for uninsured women through our partner, Planned Parenthood. And now the second part of our request - if you know of any lesbian or other member of the LGBTQ community without insurance who is delaying a screening or healthcare, please send them our way. Because of your support, we can help."

Um, one of the sexiest moments in daytime TV history ever
by Dyana Bagby
February 02, 2012 22:07

For women who love women and love to fantasize about smart, sexy, funny women who are also politically savvy and make your heart beat faster when you see their smile and are just amazed by these kinds of women and can't really say in a coherent way about how it makes you feel to see these women be themselves, here's a video clip that made me feel that way tonight.

Biblical scholar to 'King' Eddie Long: puhleeze stop your foolishness
by Dyana Bagby
February 02, 2012 12:30

images/blog/2-2-12/eddielongscrolls.jpg

If you haven't seen the video yet of Eddie Long, the self-proclaimed bishop of New Birth Missionary Baptist Church, being anointed "King" by a self-proclaimed rabbi, it's religious theater that competes with the likes of, God, I don't even know.

Long is wrapped in Holocaust scrolls, lifted up in a chair, and has to wipe away tears because he is so filled with ... with something. The act he puts on during these dramatics is, simply, sickening.

We all know Long well as the anti-gay preacher who was accused of coercing young teen males in his congregation into sexual relationships, promising to vigorously defend himself  against the charges and then timidly settling with them for a bunch of money so they would hopefully keep their mouths shut.

[Video] Mitt Romney finally gets 'glitter bombed'
by Ryan Watkins

Mitt Romney gets glitter bombed

It was bound to happen. Former Mass. Gov. Mitt Romney was finally the target of the much-dreaded “glitter bomb.” During a campaign stop in Minnesota, Romney was the target of not one, but two separate instances involving gay rights activists.

The mastermind behind the bombing was Robert Erickson, a Minnesota gay rights activist who's made a habit of ruining a perfectly good GOP campaign event by showering presidential candidates with glitter.

Erickson has targeted Congresswoman Michele Bachmann (R-Tx.), former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich and former Sen. Tim Pawlenty (R-Minn.) with glitter bombs during events in his home state. He also led the barbarian horde into the Christian-based counseling clinic run by Bachmann's husband in protest of the clinic's use of “reparative” therapy.

Romney takes another step toward GOP nomination with Fla. win
by Ryan Watkins
February 01, 2012 12:18

Shrugging off a bitter defeat in South Carolina just 10 days earlier, former Mass. Gov. Mitt Romney finished some 15 percentage points ahead of second place contender Newt Gingrich to claim victory in yesterday's Florida GOP presidential primary.

Republican voters in Florida overwhelmingly believe that Romney stands the best chance of defeating President Barack Obama in the November general election. Former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich finished with 31.9 percent, former Sen. Rick Santorum (R-Minn.) was third with 13.4 percent and Congressman Ron Paul (R-Tx.) rounded out the field with 7 percent of the total votes cast, according to the Associated Press.

Romney's march to the August GOP convention in Tampa was surely strengthened by his strong showing in Florida, one of the country's most important general election swing states.
