After two months of online balloting and more than 20,000 votes cast, we present the best of the best — our inaugural Best of Atlanta winners. It all started back at the beginning of May, when we asked you, our readers, to nominate your favorites for dozens of awards in the categories of Community, People, Nightlife, Dining, Retail, Pet Services, Internet, and Outside Atlanta. The top three finalists — or more, in the case of a tie — in each category made it through to the next round of voting. For the month of June, a multiple-choice ballot asked you to pick among the finalists for who really represents the finest in LGBT Georgia. Thanks to everyone who voted, and congratulations to all of the worthy winners and runners up. INTERNET
Gay Blog: Project Q Atlanta Project Q Atlanta (www.projectqatlanta.com) dominated the voting on its way to being named best gay blog by Georgia Voice readers. Owned and operated by Matt Hennie and Mike Fleming, the site covers the spectrum of gay Atlanta news and events while providing an impressive social calendar and your daily dose of beefcake. Towleroad (www.towleroad.com) was voted second and Break the Illusion (www.breaktheillusion.com) was third. Lesbian Blog: Pam’s House Blend Pam’s House Blend (www.pamshouseblend.com) proved her strength with our female readers. Her blend of news, opinion and occasional snark has kept readers dropping in for their daily fix. Podcaster Ruby Fruit Radio (www.rubyfruitradio.com) finished second while Autostraddle (www.autostraddle.com) was third. Social Networking site: Facebook Dominating the Georgia Voice polls as it does the lives of many of its readers, Facebook (www.facebook.com) outdistanced the competition with more than 80 percent of the vote. Transqueernation (www.transqueernation.com) was second with Twitter (www.twitter.com) a distant third. LGBT Adult Website: XTube Porn megasite XTube (www.xtube.com) was far and away the favorite adult site for Georgia Voice readers. The pornographic version of YouTube has something to satiate almost every taste from mild to wild. Hookup site Manhunt (www.manhunt.com) was ranked second while Adam4Adam.com came in third (www.adam4adam.com).
