Ben Cohen, a U.K. rugby star athlete and founder of the StandUp Foundation based in Atlanta to combat bullying and homophobia in sports, will be in Atlanta June 11 for a screening of "Legalize Gay" as part of Atlanta Pride's Stonewall month of events. Tickets go on sale for the event today at 3 p.m.
The screening is a collaboration of the StandUp Foundation, Atlanta Pride Committee and Out on Film, Atlanta's LGBT film fest that had its world premiere at the festival last October.
A Q&A with Cohen will take place after the movie screening at Midtown Art Cinema.
Cohen, a straight ally, is the first straight sports star to focus his philanthropic efforts on LGBT causes.

GlitterBomb! plants down again in Atlanta at a May Day rally to honor workers' rights and labor unions as part of rallies across the world on Tuesday, May 1, at the Georgia Capitol.
"May Day is here and we queers are invested in this international movement. May Day is a movement structured around fighting for workers rights and labor unions," states a press release from GlitterBomb!, an group organized last year and made its first official action by marching in the 2011 Atlanta Pride Parade.

The Atlanta Eagle celebrated its 25th anniversary and Leather Pride weekend with the Mr. and Ms. Atlanta Eagle competition on April 14, 2012. Jeff Donaldson got the most woofs to take home the title and Brian Acker earning the first runner-up. Donaldson takes over the title from outgoing 2011 Mr. Atlanta Eagle Wayne Turpin.

Founded in 1982 as a grass-roots response to the growing HIV/AIDS epidemic, AID Atlanta has since become one of the largest organizations of its kind in the southeast.
AID Atlanta plans to commemorate its 30th anniversary this year by hosting the annual AID Atlanta Honors on June 14, the Atlanta Cotillion XI on Sept. 15 and the AIDS Walk Atlanta & 5K Run on Oct. 21.
“We’ve set big goals for our 30th year and beyond,” Executive Director Tracy Elliott said in a statement released today. “We’re looking forward to continuing to raise awareness about HIV/AIDS and giving hope to more Atlantans than ever before.”
The organization also announced plans for a candlelight vigil set for Dec. 1 at Piedmont Park.

The Health Initiative, Georgia’s voice for LGBT health, will host a Spring Health Fair on April 28 at The Rush Center. The event is being held in partnership with Grady Medical.
Doctors, nurses and other healthcare professionals will be on-hand to offer a variety of free health screenings and consultations ranging from blood pressure to cholesterol and glucose checks.
Also included in the health fair are short (30-45 minute) health and wellness information sessions that will focus on a variety of topics specific to LGBT participants. These sessions will occur throughout the day, according to the Health Initiative’s James Parker Sheffield.
