If not Obama, Kelly Clarkson and Beyonce, then who?
by Bo Shell

Barack Obama inauguration

Ya know, Barack Obama must have had some serious decisions to make about who would perform at his second inauguration.

Using only the finest in Internet truth (Wikipedia, duh), it seems that Obama had his pick of the litter.

Here's the deal: Aretha Franklin sang "My Country, 'Tis of Thee" at Obama's first inaugural shindig. This time around, James Taylor sang "America the Beautiful," Kelly Clarkson did "My Country, 'Tis of Thee" and Beyoncé slayed them all with what's now commonly known as the second greatest national anthem ever sung (RIP, Whitney!).

Atlanta members ready to march with Lesbian & Gay Band Association in inaugural parade
by Dyana Bagby

There's nothing like marching bands to celebrate a presidential inauguration. And nothing makes a parade a celebration like gay and lesbian musicians and color guards marching out and proud to the sound of their own drummers.

President Barack Obama's inauguration is set for Monday with a celebration to include a parade with 28 bands including the Lesbian and Gay Band Association and its seven members from Atlanta. The LGBA is the only LGBT band in the parade.

Marching with the LGBA in Monday's parade are Atlanta Freedom Bands members Eddie Young and Bob Derickson, piccolo; Karen Helbling, trumpet; John Peterson, trombone; Robert Corona, color guard; Danielle Steele, honor guard; and Cliff Norris, sousaphone. Young and Norris are section captains on the artistic leadership team for the weekend.

The Campaign for Southern Equality, the group behind the recent “We Do” campaign marriage demonstration in Decatur, Ga., has released a video highlighting the current campaign as it prepares to travel to Washington, D.C.

Since Jan. 2, the group has traveled to Hattiesburg, Miss.; Mobile, Ala.; Decatur, Ga.; Morristown, Tenn.; Greenville, S.C.; and Wilson / Winston Salem, N.C.

The campaign winds up in Arlington, Va., where gay couples will also be denied marriage licenses Jan. 17. Then the group of activists will march approximately four miles to Washington, D.C., to participate in the legal marriage of a couple in front of the Jefferson Memorial.

Reaction to Jodie Foster's coming out speech
by Ryan Watkins
January 14, 2013 12:38

Jodie Foster

The internet was abuzz last night during the 70th annual Golden Globe awards after actress Jodie Foster accepted the Cecil B. Demille Award, a lifetime achievement for her nearly five decades in show business.

Foster acknowledged her sexuality and thanked her ex-partner and the couple's two children in her acceptance speech. While Foster had also thanked her then-partner, Cydney Bernard, at a Women in Entertainment event in 2007, last night’s more prominent event is being widely treated as her coming out speech.

Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD) President Herndon Graddick called Foster's Golden Globes speech “a significant moment for LGBT visibility” in a statement released today.

God's mysterious LGBT multiplying ways
by Bo Shell

Crazy Christian

This spectacular video of Cindy Jacobs praising God's ability to spontaneously multiply things when she is in need — like spaghetti at a crowded dinner table — reminds us that God is just as good to LGBTs.
