The producers behind the wildly popular “RuPaul's Drag Race” are turning to fans to help fill the show's roster for its fifth season.

Aspiring drag superstars from across the country have been invited to upload an audition video to the show's official Facebook page between now and April 18. Fans of the show will then be given the opportunity to vote for their favorites from the April 18 to May 2.

The top vote-getter will join the cast for season five, which Logo says is slated to air in early 2013.

[Video] Live from SNL — the first openly lesbian cast member
by Dyana Bagby
March 29, 2012 13:30

Finally, right?

Lesbian comedian Kate McKinnon has been hired as a feature player for "Saturday Night Live" and may debut as soon as this Saturday, April 7, when the voluptous and sex Sofia Vergara hosts. Lesbian heads around the country could very well explode.

McKinnon, who has appeared on Logo's "Big Gay Sketch Show" has a pretty impressive and funny resume. Let's check out some of her work, shall we? And, oh yeah, like any good lesbian, she has a mom who wants her to wear a dress and comb her hair more often.

[Video] Bravo's 'Tabatha Takes Over' makes over Atlanta salon and gay manager gets, uh, schooled
by Dyana Bagby
March 20, 2012 23:56

Tabatha Coffey is known for her no-nonsense approach to business especially when it comes to making over a salon that is simply going down the drain along with color and clippings.

In the March 20 episode of Bravo's hit show "Tabatha Takes Over," the dominatrix of deep-conditioning  visits Sweetgrass Salon located in the hippy neighborhood of Little Five Points.

The episode prominently features openly gay manager Brian Baj, who Tabatha doesn't take kindly to, including calling him a "shit stirrer" and "annoying." He says she is a real bitch. She says he has a lot of aggression. He stresses she is a real bitch. She calls him a "fuckweed." (The F-word is bleeped, but we can read lips.)

Atlanta station asks: Do you think Brandon White is lying about anti-gay attack?
by Dyana Bagby
February 29, 2012 15:27

An Atlanta CBS affiliate is currently taking a poll of its viewers asking if they think Brandon White knew the gang members who brutally attacked him Feb. 4 and uploaded a video of it on a hip hop website. In the video, the attackers repeatedly call White "faggot."

The yes-no poll question is: "Do Think Atlanta Gay Beating Victim Brandon White Is Telling The Truth About His Relationship With The Suspects?"

At about 3 p.m. today, 108 people have voted and it appears 51.85 percent (or 56 votes) say "yes" while 48.15 percent (52 votes) say "no."

The poll, on the website of an Atlanta CBS radio and cable affiliate, is based on CBS Atlanta's broadcast of a segment in which gay members of Change Atlanta and other activists questioned whether White is telling the truth or not about knowing his attackers.

In the segment, Change Atlanta members Terik Jackson and Devin Barrington Ward stated they believe White is lying about not knowing his attackers and the motive for the attack. White has said he did not know his attackers and his attorney, Christine Koehler, also has publicly stated he stands by his assertion he did not know them.

In an interview with GA Voice on Tuesday, Ward apologized for what he said were mistakes made following the beating of White, including he and other members of Change Atlanta meeting with a suspect's mother and defense attorney while CBS Atlanta filmed as well as accusing White of lying.

One of the activists in the CBS Atlanta segment, Gary Nichols, accused White of wanting to expose his attackers of being on the "down low" or secretly gay. He also said he felt "duped" by White. No proof has been presented to back up this claim.

So, take our poll: What the heck do you think about CBS Atlanta's poll?

CORRECTION: The article has been corrected from an earlier version that identified the poll as coming from television station CBS Atlanta. CBS Atlanta did not post the poll but rather CBS radio affiliate WAOK-AM did. WAOK-AM is affiliated with CBS TV affiliate CW69. WAOK-AM posted a news story from the CBS Atlanta news website to go with the poll. The poll now reads "WAOK Wants To Know If You Think Atlanta Gay Beating Victim Brandon White Is Telling The Truth About His Relationship With The Suspects?"

Why 'Downton Abbey' is history's gayest British export
by Bo Shell
February 20, 2012 17:34

Downton Abbey

I don't like to take a lot of advice from my Twitter friends, but when the right combination of folks hashtag things I've never heard of, I get the feeling I'm missing the boat.

And this time, it was a boat straight to English gay hell: "Downton Abbey."

I recognized Maggie Smith's cold blank stare on ads oddly running on MARTA buses and the occasional stops along my Midtown route to work. It was her and two other fancy white ladies in period costumes. As if you'd see Maggie Smith doing anything else.

"What's this DownTOWN Abbey stuff I keep seeing?" I asked by boyfriend.
