Sen. Saxby Chambliss (R-Ga.) admitted yesterday that a malicious and threatening comment left on gay blog Joe.My.God came from within his Atlanta office. Georgia Equality sent a message to its supporters via Facebook asking them to “remind” Sen. Chambliss that he represents all Georgians. Remind Senator Chambliss that he was elected to represent ALL Georgians. This is disgraceful conduct, yet there is obviously a tone set in his office where the staff feel they can get away with this. What is he going to do to make sure this does not happen again? According to a statement, Sen. Chambliss is working with the Senate sergeant at arms to determine who from his office actually left the comment which read “All faggots must die.” The poster identified himself as “Jimmy.” The comment was made just after the Senate failed to make progress on a Defense Authorization bill that included repeal language for “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell.” Chambliss' Washington, D.C. office phone number is 202-224-3521 or you can send an e-mail to the Senator via a web-form here: http://chambliss.senate.gov/public/index.cfm?p=Email.
