Conservative blogger warns of God's wrath over Obama marriage stance
by Ryan Watkins
May 15, 2012 14:11

Joseph Farah, the mustache-wielding, right-wing blogger, issued a warning to his readers, saying that the United States will feel God's wrath over President Obama's political position on same-sex marriage.

Farah, publisher of the conservative website World Net Daily, writes:

Obama and the other champions of this perversion are arrogantly defying an institution literally defined by God in the Garden of Eden and affirmed by His Son Jesus during His earthly ministry. So anyone claiming to be a Bible-believing Christian who rejects that definition has some serious soul-searching to do – not to mention some exegetic rationalization.

Jesus was inclusive — and so should all churches be
by Rev. Paul M. Turner
April 08, 2012 09:22

Inclusivity and religion, inclusivity and Christianity — I know those two words in today’s world seem to reside side by side. We know in our heart one can't have one without the other.

However what we experience with inclusivity and religion and/or Christianity, in this day and age, are often diametrically opposed ideas. Creeds and belief systems of every sort compete for the souls of humankind, and often the competition results in building high fences and excluding those of other creeds.

If there is one thing which characterized the ministry of Jesus on earth, it was his inclusive approach for those who were seeking, not just for those who agreed with him.

[Video] Is Georgia a hotbed for 'ex-gay' conferences?
by Dyana Bagby
April 04, 2012 18:01

images/stories/4-4-12/dlfoster.jpg

Coming to Helen, Ga., this Nov. 8-11 is the "ex-gay" conference titled "Follow Me Discipleship Retreat." And this comes after Love Won Out brought its "ex-gay" conference to Villa Rica in February.

Seems like Georgia is a favorite place for ex-gay conference.

Joe Jervis at the blog JoeMyGod reports on the "ex-gay" conference to be led by "ex-gay" pastor DL Foster . Other speakers include James Pennyman, Rev. Kyra Jones and Poetic Prophet J. Elijah.

(And, oh yeah, what does the DL stand for?)

Religion blog: Racism at core of Trayvon Martin shooting
by Rev. Paul M. Turner
March 23, 2012 15:34

The definition of racism: “the belief that all members of each race possess characteristics, abilities, or qualities specific to that race, especially so as to distinguish it as inferior or superior to another race or races” and the expression of such prejudice”

What this definition is ultimately talking about is “power and control,” the belief that somehow among humans there is a sense of superiority over other people because of skin color and culture and therefore the privilege to rule over another group of people.

Now there are lots of other -isms’s that could be brought up which are just as brutal, unfair and theologically incorrect. However, if we could just get to a place where we really understand what “racism” is and where it takes us, then it is a simply step to eradicating the other -ism’s because they all work the same way.

Religion blog: A pastor's letter
by Rev. Paul M. Turner
February 27, 2012 10:55

A few years ago, a good friend of mine, who also is a pastor, lamented to me that he wished the gay community would not be so “in your face” about its issues. We had a pretty loud conversation, fight and argument that ended with me stomping out of his office, slamming the door as I went.

I had ended this hot debate saying, I was actually screaming through my tears, that he, the straight guy, didn't have to spend his every waking moment justifying his very existence as an accepted child of God.

I was so angry that even this friend didn’t seem to get that the forces of the church were against us in such a way it was a fight every day to continue to see a reason to live. To be fair, he later came to my office opened the door and simply said, “I get your point” and we having been fighting this stupidity together ever since.
