Westboro Baptist Church pisses off hackers with mass-shooting response

Anti-gay Westboro Baptist Church protests Grady High School

The gay-haters at Westboro Baptist Church are continuing their mission of pissing off everyone in America by announcing their intention to picket Sandy Hook Elementary School following the mass shooting in Newtown, Ct. that killed 26 people, including 20 students.

Westboro has regularly protested the funerals of slain American soldiers and has picketed concerts, churches, synagogues and even Atlanta’s Grady High School in “demonstrations opposing the fag lifestyle of soul-damning, nation-destroying filth,” according to the group's website.

In a video titled “God Sent the Shooter” released on one of its websites over the weekend, Westboro celebrates the shooting and cites God's hatred of homosexuality as one of the (many) reasons for the tragedy.

“The official religious doctrine in America is to bow down and kiss fag ass,” the narrator of the video says. “No one but us is telling you the truth.”

“God sent the shooter. God is laughing at your calamities,” the video continues.

The video and Westboro's planned response to the shootinghas led a hacker under the alias of The Jester (th3j35t3r) to attack the Westboro family of websites. At the time of this article's publishing, the church's flagship website www.godhatesfags.com is offline.

Last year, the same hacker claimed responsibility for disrupting the hosting service for the Westboro family of websites for more than a month.

Westboro's response to the mass shooting has drawn ire from members from the “hacktivist” collective Anonymous. Members of group released the personal information, including names, telephone numbers and addresses, for many of the Phelps clan over the weekend as part of what its called Operation Westboro.

The official Twitter account for Shirley Phelps-Roper has also been hacked by a member of the collective.
