Seven members from the Atlanta Freedom Bands will head to Washington, D.C., next month to march alongside members of the Lesbian & Gay Band Association in the 57th Presidential Inaugural Parade, held to commemorate President Barack Obama's swearing-in ceremony.
Two of Atlanta Freedom Bands' marchers will be section leaders, group President Cliff Norris said.
More than 30 different gay and lesbian music organizations will send marchers to the parade from cities across the country. The combined band will number around 230 participants.

Placing hygiene kits at the base of tents at a homeless camp for teens, Rick Westbrook, executive director of Lost-n-Found Youth, attempts to show the seriousness of the plight of homeless youth, specifically LGBT youth.
The short video shot by Lost-n-Found Youth takes viewers on a short tour through a campsite where Westbrook says LGBT youth are living. And with cold weather on its way, he asks the community for financial support to help the young people get off the streets.

Grant Henry, the owner and "namesake" of Sister Louisa's Church of the Living Room and Ping Pong Emporium, had his iPhone stolen during Sunday Service last night and is asking the public for help.
Lesbian DJ Vicki Powell (and voted Best DJ by GA Voice readers three years in a row) was holding her popular gay-friendly Sunday Service at Church (what the bar is called by its loyal parishoners, er, patrons) when Henry, who was sitting at a table in the downstairs bar area, had his phone stolen while it was sitting on the table in front of him.

Atlanta ranked as the country's number 10 most promiscuous city for gay men in a recent survey conducted by “Sugar Daddy” website SeekingArrangement.com.
The website collected some 11,000 surveys from gay men and men who have sex with men asking how many men join dating websites “with sex as the main motivation.” Some 82 percent of those surveyed confirmed they did.
The website then collected responses from men on the number of sexual partners they've had in the past year to complete the list.

Today, Creative Loafing Atlanta writer Andrew Alexander penned a wonderful opinion piece on Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed and his continuing to drag his feet on the issue of same-sex marriage.
After President Barack Obama expressed his opinion that same-sex couples should be given the same rights as heterosexual couples earlier this year, local eyes turned to Reed, arguably the state's most prominent Democrat.
Reed's stance on the issue was the cover story of our May 25 issue (and one of my personal favorites) after local activists created a social media campaign calling on the mayor to “evolve” on the issue.
