The Human Rights Campaign will hit the road this Fall for a 12-week, 17 city bus tour that will see an Atlanta stop during Atlanta Pride October 7-9. The HRC are calling the tour “On the Road to Equality.”
The purpose of the tour, according to the HRC, is “educating the American public and empowering LGBT people to become advocates for themselves and their families.”
HRC's President Joe Solmonese said the time is right for the cross-country tour.
“We are in the midst of a cultural tipping point on lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender issues and our job is to push the scale as far and as fast as we can toward fairness,” said Solmonese. “The tour will serve as a powerful visibility tool and support the work of creating real and lasting change in these communities.”

David Atlanta Magazine and the rights to the now defunct Southern Voice newspaper were recently sold to an undisclosed buyer, according to Chip O'Kelley, David's Chief Operating Officer, but business records filed with the Georgia Secretary of State's office shed light on the change in ownership at the magazine.

In a telephone interview yesterday, O'Kelley declined to name the new owner(s) of David Magazine, LLC, saying that the new owners did not want to come forward publicly, but Thompson, when contacted via Facebook, confirmed that he had purchased the magazine.

Saturday night, the Atlanta Braves were in the midst of a heated divisional game against the Washington Nationals when a man wearing a white wedding dress, a baseball glove and a Braves hat stormed the field. He was quickly, and violently, tackled by several security personnel and escorted off the field.
The man — who has not been identified publicly — was all smiles as he was escorted off the field by an Atlanta police officer.
Professional sporting leagues understandably discourage dissemination of such antics. Though it's not uncommon for ballpark attendees to run onto the field, television viewers rarely see them. The cameras generally pan away, instead focusing on crowd reactions and the players on the field rather than the intruders.
