Activists with Atlanta's Occupy movement will occupy the Riverdale home of Brigitte Walker and her partner, Ajai Craig, the group announced this week.
Walker, an Iraq War veteran, is on 90 percent disability stemming from injuries she sustained while serving in the military and is facing foreclosure from her mortgage holder. Organizers say that her fixed income, along with her bank's refusal to negotiate new terms, have put her home “deep into the foreclosure process.”
Occupy Atlanta will host a press conference at Walker and Craig's home later today, organizers said.

The annual Atlanta Bucks Rugby Football Club's Miss Ruck & Maul Pageant will be at Jungle on Saturday beginning at 6:30 p.m. and promises to be a hoot with burly men and their mentors dressed in gaudy drag attire competing for the coveted title.
What's better — the event not only entertains but is also a fundraiser for the Bucks and this year also for the Atlanta Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence's new Saint and Lost Fund to help LGBT homeless youth. You can pay $10 at the door or make a donation online at here.
The hostesses for the Miss Ruck & Maul Pageant are Ruby Redd and Jenna Tellya — also known as rugby players Ray Matheson and Gary Durden.

You may be seeing red at Atlanta City Hall on Thursday and through December. But not for the usual reasons.
Mayor Kasim Reed and the city of Atlanta are partnering with (RED) to bring awareness about HIV and AIDS by having city hall lit up with red lights beginning tomorrow and throughout the month. The main mission of (RED) is to "have a world where virtually no child is born with HIV by 2015."
Atlanta took part in the international event of illuminating well-known landmarks last year for the first time. Other sites lit up red last year included the Empire State Building, the Sydney Opera House and the London Eye.

Atlanta City Councilmember Alex Wan (District 6) will host a public safety forum on Tuesday, Nov. 15, at the YMCA on North Highland Avenue to discuss recent criminal activity in and around Midtown.
The meeting follows an armed robbery and police shootout on Oct. 26 in the heart of the Midtown residential neighborhood. The robbery occurred near the intersection of 8th and Myrtle streets.
Joining Wan, the only openly gay council member, will be Atlanta Police Department Zone 6 Commander Major John Dalton and Zone 2 Commander Major Robert Browning.
The forum will offer citizens a chance to engage the Atlanta Police Department in an effort to find ways of working with the department to reduce crime in the Midtown neighborhoods as the holidays approach.
