Atlanta’s women’s professional basketball team, the Atlanta Dream, advanced out of the first round of the WNBA playoffs Friday night after beating the Washington Mystics 101-77. 2010 is the second consecutive year that the Dream have made the playoffs in their three-year history. Friday’s win against the Mystics, however, was the first post-season series victory for the team. The Dream will face either the Indiana Fever or the New York Liberty. Both teams are tied 1-1 in the other Eastern Conference semifinal. Atlanta forward Angel McCoughtry was also honored over the weekend for her defensive skill as she was named to the WNBA’s All-Defensive Team for 2010. The star forward leads Atlanta with 21.1 points per game.
