The Queer Justice League released its first video from its “It Gets Better” video campaign filmed over Atlanta Pride weekend. The video is released today as part of the national call on Oct. 20 for people to wear purple as a way to raise awareness about anti-gay bullying and the recent youth suicides allegedly due, at least in part, to the bullying. QJL, a fledgling group of gay activists, decided to undertake the video campaign after reading about gay journalist Dan Savage’s campaign of people submitting videos of themselves urging young queer people thinking of suicide or feeling alone or who are bullied to understand that the tough times being experienced now will not last forever. A candlelight vigil is planned for 7 p.m. at 10th Street and Monroe Drive to commemorate the lives lost. Here’s the first video — many more are expected to come.
