Laura Douglas BrownEditor and co-founder Laura Douglas-Brown is an award-winning writer and editor with more than 10 years of experience covering LGBT local and national stories. She joined the staff of Southern Voice as an intern in 1997 and served as its editor from 2006 until the newspaper closed in 2009. She launched GA Voice, along with Chris Cash, in 2010 to insure that Georgia’s LGBT community always has a “voice.” She is a card-carrying member of the PTA and at last count had 84 empty Diet Coke cans on her desk. Chris CashPublisher and co-founder Chris Cash founded Southern Voice in 1988 and served as its publisher until selling the newspaper to Window Media in 1997. When Southern Voice closed in 2009 she launched GA Voice along with Douglas-Brown. Her proudest accomplishment since launching GA Voice is the partnership forged between the newspaper and the Atlanta Convention and Visitors Bureau. She is the grandmother of one perfect child, a mediocre golfer and an amateur musician who sounds way too much like her distant cousin, Johnny Cash. [email protected]
Tim BoydAssociate publisher Tim Boyd, who has more than 25 years of experience in retail and sales, was tapped early on by Cash and Douglas-Brown to lead the advertising and business teams of GA Voice. He worked as a sales executive for Southern Voice in the early 1990’s before purchasing his Virginia-Highland store, Metropolitan Deluxe, which he grew to a chain of 11 stores throughout the southeast. Boyd’s French bulldog, Sophia, is the unofficial office dog. She is cute, crazy and looking. [email protected]
Dyana BagbyDeputy editor Dyana Bagby interviewed for her first reporting job at the Herald-Citizen wearing a skirt and pumps. She still got the job and went on to cover everything from death penalty trials to county fair board meetings. In 2001, she moved from Cookeville, Tenn., to Atlanta and went to work for the Gwinnett Daily Post working the cops beat and also feature reporting. She found her dream job with Southern Voice in 2004 and worked there until it closed in 2009. In 2010 she came on board as Deputy Editor of GA Voice- her second dream job. [email protected]
