Coco Peru, drag star known for such films as "Trick" and "Girls Will Be Girls," will attend Atlanta's Out on Film 25th film anniversary taking place in October. Out on Film, Atlanta's LGBT film festival, takes place Oct. 4-11. Peru will participate in a Q & A with "Trick" director Jim Fall on Oct. 10 after the screening of the cult classic. The Q & A will take place at Mixx Atlanta as part of its new live entertainment series "Backstage @ Mixx." Peru, also famous for her one-woman shows, will then perform at Mixx on Oct. 11. “I am excited to not only have the great Coco in town but to share her with Mixx Atlanta,” said Jim Farmer, Out On Film’s festival director, in a prepared statement. “’Trick’ is a very popular gay romantic comedy and we look forward to having Coco and Jim Fall talk to our audience about it.” Coco Peru has also guest starred such TV shows as “How I Met Your Mother,” “Arrested Development, “Will and Grace” and Bravo’s “Boy Meets Boy.” GA Voice reader Sean Mac points out that a sequel to "Girls Will Be Girls" is in the works and has an Atlanta connection. Other films included in Out on Film's 25th anniversary lineup include the gay romantic comedy, "Gayby" on opening night; the centerpiece film, "Cloudburst" that stars Olympia Dukakis and Brenda Fricker as an aging lesbian couple; and closing night with "BearCity2", a film that continues to praise the gruff and scruff of a close group of friends.
