Gay Israeli brings coming out story to Saint Mark

“I came out of the closet when I was 24,” Azar says in the film. “I told my mother first. I sat down across from her. I was trembling. My knees were shaking. I think she asked me, ‘Do you have a girlfriend?’ And I said, ‘No. I have a boyfriend’. And in 10 seconds I saw my mother age 30 years before my eyes. Her face just fell.”

Azar is currently on a tour of the country promoting his film.
